With six months to go until the Australian premiere, January performances of The Book of Mormon have already sold out. New seats for the award-winning musical go on sale to the general public today.
Written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Avenue Q and Frozen co-creator Robert Lopez, booking has been extended to 16 April 2017 at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre.
Winner of nine Tony Awards® including Best Musical, the Grammy® for Best Musical Theatre album and four
Olivier Awards® including Best New Musical, The Book of Mormon has already broken the house record for the highest selling on sale period of any production in the Princess Theatre’s 159-year history.
The Australian season follows successful missions overseas where The Book of Mormon has played at more than 100% capacity on Broadway since its World Premiere in March 2011 and sold out every single performance in London’s West End since opening there in March 2013. The show has set house records at
47 theaters around the US, broken the house record at New York’s Eugene O’Neill Theater more than 50 times and broken London box office records for the highest single day of sales in West End history.
